Default Call 911 for car accident. Yes or No?

I was in a friendly debate with some people about whather it's ok or not to call 911 (in the US) after a non-injury car accident.

My view on this is, one shouldn't call 911 unless it's an emergency, and a non-injury car accident is not. So one shouldn't call and possibly put other emengency calls on hold.

Please share you opinion on this matter.

You know, I never know ether or not it's okay to call 911 or not. BUT I can find out. I have a friend who used to work as an operator. Now as far as I know, you can reach the police through 911 by saying: "This is not an imidaite attention emergancy, but I need to be in contact with the local police department."

911 is not for a non-injury car accident.
In fact, it's not even a police matter if it doesn't involve injury or damage to public property. If you call the police they'll just tell you to come by in the morning if you want to file a report - no rush.
And calling 911 is more extreme than calling your local police district.

yuh, thats why in canada, the police office number is different, you can call 911, or you can call the police office.
